Report

the day began well with the sun threatening to make an appearance, there was a strong wind blowing from one end ofthe goal to the other, which was the first tactical decision that had to be sorted as they had a very quick forward,
Well the game started well with some very good passing from the u17s as they began flexing there football superiority onto the Blythe u18s, it was good to watch but the Red st forwards struggled to make an impact, until an indecisive moment by the Blythe keeper gave a simple passout to the oncoming Biddulph who still had a lot of work to do as the keeper dived @ Lukes feet who calmly lifted the ball into the oppositions net, 1-0 to Red st u17s.
Half time came and the necesary instructions came out in the team talk as to holding a high line trying to force the offside as they had pace up front, the back held well until they had a couple of nerve racking corners which whizzed across the box with know end product, when Norm quicklt threw out to greeny on which he exploded down the byeline to overlap danny deaville and whip in a cross which fell out to Biddy who slotted a 2nd passed the stranded flat footed keeper. 2-0 Red st u17s.
Shape and discipline was needed as jimmy recieved a yellow for supposedly diving ( he was fouled in the area) and the lads held it together, where they put in an horrendous 2 footed tackle into the inform on fire Tom Green who had to be subbed and replaced by Dave Hackney who had a stinker in the cup final earlier in the week, Tom had to be subbed which had reminance of the wolstanton game where they decided to bully the lads and kick the younger lads up in the air where U17s were denied 4 clear cut penalty appealls and an accasion where Mat Smith missed a peno early on, Red st had a few good footballing spells when the u16 oakey made a positive run down the right flank and whipped in a cross for Olly Gates to head home 3-0 Red st U17s.
10 mins to go Blythe threw 3 up front which the younger back 4 inc Dean Moores on for subbed James Hackney, and Dan Riley replaced Wozzer up front.
An excellent performance by the U17s due to good discipline and quality workrate, a result that now puts pressure on the chasing pack, but we need to turn up in the right frame of mind to beet Milton next sunday
